Confirm Identity and Responsibilities
Match the business identity on the quotation, company documents and proposed transaction. Identify the supplying entity, manufacturing location and responsible contacts. Ask which activities are performed internally, which are subcontracted and who controls inspection, traceability and final integration.
Outsourcing does not itself establish poor quality, and in-house production does not reduce coordination costs to zero. Assess how responsibilities, supplier controls and changes are documented.
Request Evidence for the Application
- Selected model and injection-unit identification, drawings and the agreed configuration.
- Relevant application evidence with material, tooling, handling and quality conditions described.
- Representative trial records and the tests that determine accepted output.
- Inspection and traceability records applicable to the supplied equipment.
- Agreed operating, service and integration documentation for the destination and project scope.
Respect customer confidentiality: a supplier may provide redacted records, an approved demonstration or another agreed verification method. Lack of permission to disclose a customer’s private records is not proof of poor capability.
Check Certificates within Their Scope
If a supplier presents a certificate, verify its issuer, holder, site, scope and validity through an appropriate source. Do not infer a machine’s performance, finished-part compliance or destination-market approval from an unrelated certificate or a management-system label.
Make Support Commitments Reviewable
Clarify installation and training, document language, warranty terms, diagnostic information, spare-parts identification and availability, support channels and escalation. Distinguish remote support from on-site work and confirm what is included, optional or dependent on location.
