How to Compare Injection Molding Machine Quotations

From Specifications to Brands How to Choose an Injection Molding Machine

Two injection molding machine quotations are comparable only after their technical and delivery scopes are aligned. Matching tonnage or a familiar brand name does not establish an equivalent production cell.

Use One Project Specification

Send each supplier the same drawing revision, material grade, cavity and shot information, mold drawing, insert-handling sequence and required accepted output. Record deviations and assumptions so that a low price is not mistaken for full compliance.

Build a Line-by-Line Comparison

  • Machine: exact model, clamp arrangement, injection unit and screw option, usable capacity and model drawing.
  • Tooling and handling: included molds, mounting or interface work, loading fixtures, slide or rotary arrangement and automation responsibilities.
  • Auxiliaries: material preparation, temperature control and other equipment, with ownership and connections identified.
  • Installation: electrical supply, cooling, floor and access requirements, unloading, positioning and commissioning scope.
  • Documentation and training: language, operating and service documents, records, training location and included activities.
  • Commercial scope: currency, quote validity, delivery basis and named place, packaging, transport, taxes or duties as applicable, and exclusions.

Compare Performance on the Same Basis

A maximum injection pressure, rate or shot value may refer to a particular screw option and operating condition. Ask for the applicable combination and project evidence. Compare cycle and accepted output using the same material, mold, handling steps and quality criteria.

For energy comparisons, record the measurement interval and included equipment. Machine-only consumption and a complete cell with auxiliaries are different boundaries. Do not treat a motor rating as measured energy per accepted part.

Resolve Gaps Before Ordering

Mark each requirement as included, excluded, optional or unresolved. Identify the document or trial that supports a supplier answer. Keep option prices and recurring costs visible, and confirm responsibilities for integration and acceptance in the final agreed scope.

Common Questions

Are Equal-Tonnage Machines Equivalent?

No. Injection-unit capability, mold fit, handling, controls, auxiliaries and service scope can differ.

Is the Cheapest Base Machine the Lowest-Cost Project?

The answer depends on the missing scope, installation and operating assumptions. Compare the complete project and record the inputs rather than assuming a result.
