When using a vertical injection molding machine to mold PC products, it is generally necessary to preheat and dry the plastic. PC has a relatively high water absorption rate, so it needs to be dried before processing. Pure PC should be dried at 120°C, and the drying time should be accurate. Modified PC typically requires drying at 110°C for more than 4 hours. However, the drying time should not exceed 10 hours.
In addition, the mold design and gate design of the PC part should be optimized. The mold temperature for injection molding PC is 80-100°C, while glass fiber reinforced PC requires a mold temperature of 100-130°C, which is a suitable temperature range. For small products, a pin-shaped gate can be used, and the gate depth should be 70% of the thickest part. Other gates can be circular or rectangular. The injection mold shape should meet the requirements. It is better to have larger gates to minimize defects caused by excessive plastic shearing. To avoid defects, attention should be paid to the design of the gate. The depth of the vent should be less than 0.03-0.06 mm.
